Was nu-metal REALLY that bad?

In another no doubt expertly written article on the NME website, they explore the nu-metal genre, and have come to the conclusion that it's the worst genre of all time. Yeah.

Now, I'm no major expert (or indeed fan) of nu-metal, but this whole thing reads like someone who's saw some shit bands and jumped to the idea that ALL nu-metal sucks. Couldn't you do this with any genre? Lump in Will.I.Am, Drake and Nikki Minaj and come to the conclusion that ALL hip-hop is mindless garbage? Take Bieber, Miley and any X Factor dick and sum up with "and that is why all pop music is worthless. Goodnight, everybody."

Anyway, the article itself. Yeah, nu-metal had it's dross, but Korn's first two albums are genuinely great records. And Hybrid Theory sold so much on the back of it being an excellent album, regardless of what their output afterwards is. And SOAD's "mysogynistic lyrics?" Name one, NME.

I get that the internet is jam packed with stuff now and trying to get someone's attention in our Facebook/Twitter/Vine/Youtube world is next to impossible, so do we now just try and anger people into a reaction now?

I know, I know. Hey, I actually subscribe to the magazine and get it delivered to my house, so I know to take a huge pinch of salt with a majority of their articles. This one seemed like particular fan-bait, though. Surely no-one who works for a music magazine can be THAT mis-informed..?

They are not always bad however they have turned into a bit of a teeny bop journel equivalent to that of smash hits or possibly seventeen magazine for boys...it gives away stickers sometimes!!!!!!
