It says a lot about my expectations for the last ever series of the British series of Being Human that it lay gathering virtual dust on my planner for over a year before I decided to finally sit down and watch it. And lo and behold if it wasn't arguably the best series of them all. Which, when you consider it was with an entirely new cast and a cut in half series of just 6 episodes is pretty damn remarkable.
I don't know exactly when I fell out of love with Being Human. Was it the introduction of the pretty damn unlikable Nina? Was it George becoming really fucking annoying? Did it all get just a little bit stupid? Who knows?
With the slate wiped clean of the main characters and a whole NEW ghost, vampire and werewolf involved, it really shouldn't have worked as well as it did. But Hal, Tom and Alex were all great characters; Hal's OCD vampire (a nice nod to a very early vampire belief) was one of the highlights of the series, and the always excellent Phil Davies as the grotesque Captain Hatch was up there with the best TV villains. By the end, myself and Mrs C were genuinely sad it was over.
So any fans of the show? What did you think of the new cast? Should it have ended long before?

I loved the first season/series, but it was all downhill after that. It was always watchable, but over time I just stopped giving a damn. Now I need to see this final season. I think the show is still in my NF queue (never got around to watching the last episodes of the previous season), so maybe it'll show up there.

I was exactly the same, and I think it's fair to say the show dipped considerably in the later seasons. I think the new characters were introduced last season and now this season wraps everything up. The strength of the story and the writing makes it a damn shame it only went 6 episodes, but it's 6 episodes that are certainly worth watching.
