Nostalgia can be a heart-breaker. Bands and albums you loved when you were a teenager can, on more recent, "adult" listens sound just not quite as good as you remember them, and going to see a band you loved years ago now can be just as depressing. Thank God then, for the Presidents of the United States of America. They'll only ever be known (unfairly) for Lump and Peaches, but their other records have got plenty of spin in the Curmudgeon's household. I went to see them a couple of times a few years back, and they were a blast. Funny, musically tight to precision timing and you could tell they were just having a blast being there. Nostalgia be damned. Presidents are still rocking it. Anyway, they've been absent for five years, but they're back. What does their new material sound like? It's like early Pink Floyd prog-rock mixed with a fusion of synth-jazz funk. Yeah, right. diffuser.fm/presidents-of-the-united-states-of-america-poor-little-me-exclusive-video-premiere/ Welcome back, boys. Get your butts in your touring van again, yeah?

Oh God, that happy face on the bass drum head cracked me up. Let me just point out that this song is more country than anything I've heard on country radio in at least ten years. I still can't get over that the entire band plays with a total of 5 strings and three instruments. Awesome sauce.

So did they ever make any more of an impact after their first album over in your neck of the woods, Trash, or do they remain an unfair one hit wonder?

Two hit wonders. But EVERYBODY loves Peaches. One of the funniest videos ever.
