How has Sons of Anarchy never made its way into the Fortress?
I've been meaning to sit down and watch it since it came out (motorcycle gang that gets into fights, shoots things, and sells guns? What's not to like!), and I finally tackled the whole series over the course of the last month. The first season was kind of slow, but it only took one pivotal episode to launch the whole thing into the realm of awesome.
Of course, in its 6 seasons there are some low points, but I've yet to find a show that does a better job of getting you to love the characters just so it can break your heart repeatedly by cutting them down. They're the bad guys who are sometimes the good guys but always seem to revert to their wicked ways whenever things start to get nice.
And did I mention the soundtrack is killer?
My respect for Kurt Sutter is through the roof after SoA. I can't believe I allowed myself to miss out on some of the best writing and best acting on television all these years.
What say you, Fortress? Am I alone in my love for Sons, or am I the last one to the party and I don't even know it?

This is another of those shows that didn't catch my attention until it was several seasons in and I haven't had time to play catch up on. Maybe when it hits Netflix I'll check it out after Breaking Bad and Dexter. I kind of have a peeve about the naive way people glorify what biker gangs do so a lot of the show's fans kind of bug me, but a great show is a great show and I wouldn't be doing myself any favors refusing to watch one because middle aged white people in my area constantly bring up how many Hell's Angels they've met like that's going to somehow make me think they're cool.

Well, this IS a perfectly timed thread. I'm currently making my way through the third season of this show as we speak. It's often almost unbearably grim (the second series, for example.. yeesh) but the writing on the show is some of the best I've ever seen on any medium. Yeah, they're a bunch of ruthless criminals, drug pushers and criminals.. but you really want them to be your friends.
Again, a show tailor made for Netflix. It's shown on UK TV, once a week with commercials peppered all the way through it. Just not good enough anymore.

The first five seasons of Sons are one Netflix, and I can't imagine six is too far away since it concluded its U.S. airtime over 2 months ago. I couldn't wait so I, uh, made other arrangements to watch that one. Oh, and if you think it's grim now, Curmudgeon, just wait until later. Some of the later episodes will rip your guts right out of you.
I felt like season three was by far the weakest one, but I enjoyed the last few episodes. It'd be hard for me to say more without spoiling anything, so I'll leave it at that.
