You know those shows you stumble upon by complete accident that you end up loving? This isn't one of them. Toy Hunter was a show I actively hunted down because in the course of a couple of days I'd heard three different groups of people tell me how good it was. So when I found the entire series was available to watch on my Sky box, what's a guy gonna do? If you've not seen it, it's about Jordan, a toy obsessive, who travels America visiting different collectors homes, bartering with them over various items that he later sells at his own store. It's that simple. What it means is 30 minutes of talking about cool toys, a little bit of history on them and a whole load of "oh, I HAD that!" pain. In short, it's great. Here he is walking into a guy's garage (his "man cave") to find all kinds of great stuff. No idea what movie that Godzilla toy is based on, though. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHKeAT7SqYgMrs C is a bit of an eBay wizard, and we've recently started looking for old toys to buy and then sell on. She recently bought full plastic bags of Pokemon figures for £2 each, and lovingly listed them on eBay, with seperate pictures and descriptions. We've hauled back over £80 so far and the little shits are still selling fast. We're not on this guys level, at all, but it's a fun hobby to make some extra pocket money. But yeah, Toy Hunter. A simple, fun reality show that awakens the inner child and older nerd in all of us. Check it out.

Hadn't heard of Toy Hunter, but being an Ebay Wizard is a blast. For awhile I was bringing in damn near $100 a month just by turning sports memorabilia. I love the lazy bastards who sell all their shit in one auction for a fraction of the price they'd haul in if they just took the time to list everything individually.
But back to the toys... "Video no available in your country."
Is this show anything like Pawn Stars?

I haven't seen Pawn Stars (man, what a misleading sounding title!) but guy goes into strangers house, looks at his stuff, pays him for it and sells it on later. You don't actually get to see him sell it later which is a shame, so I dunno if it's the same idea or not. Probably. Struggling to find decent links that will work anywhere, so here's an interview with the Toy Hunter from ABC to give you an idea. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om8JHTpM6soDespite the internet being everywhere, there's still a ton of money to be made from people who just don't know how or want to sell online. Or worse, you get people selling online that have no idea what they're doing. A guy we know was selling vintage Star Wars figures, the holy grail of toys, on eBay and he fucking botched all of it. Didn't put "Kenner" in the title? Didn't write that the figures came with all their hard to find weapons? Spent more time talking about, in the fucking listing, of how ill he's been over the last few months instead of describing the actual VALUABLE toy he's selling?

If you thought the title Pawn Stars was pushing it, another show came after it called Hardcore Pawn. There's also one that revolves around Kevin Smith's comic shop called Comic Book Men that is pretty great if you're into that kind of thing. In one episode someone drove up in the original Batmobile and they got to cruise around town in it.
