With the gift that keeps on giving that is Netflix, it's easy to get swept away with the sheer depth of new TV shows and movies. In short, there not enough hours in the day.
There is time, however, to take full advantage of the format and go back to a TV show where each episode used to be an agonising week apart. That would be Lost.
I wasn't sure what revisiting this show would be like. It had been some time since I said goodbye to the crew of Oceanic 815, and the whole appeal of the show was the NOT knowing. The slow reveal of the numbers, the Others, the Black Smoke..all of that. I remember watching wide eyes in wonder of just what the hell was going on, but now that I KNEW (well, sort of), would Lost still have the same intrigue now I know just what was down that hatch?
Turns out - yes. The surprises may be gone, but the excellent writing, acting and characters were all still there. I've never got to know and care about a whole bunch of vastly different characters than I have with Jack, Sawyer, Locke, Kate etc. It's funny how a second watch has changed my outlook on the show. I used to fucking hate Jack; found him preachy, arrogant, unlikeable..now he's one of my favourites on the island and I'm kinda on his side now. Locke remains, in my opinion, one of the most well rounded and captivating characters in the history of TV. Maybe this time around I'll understand what the hell is going on.
Anyone else ventured back to Lost? Or what other old shows have you revisited?
