2010 was possibly the last time the word "Kenickie" was written on this website, but instead of that band we're looking at the first, and last, single from the lead singer, Lauren Laverne, who obviously bathes in the blood of virgins because she's been impossibly lovely and unchanged for almost two decades now.
Here she is (blonde in the middle) in Kenickie in 1996.
And here she is this year.

Anyway, when Kenickie folded after two albums Lauren released only one solo single before retiring from music. She's now a DJ for alternative music station XFM and appears alongside other Fortress heroes David Mitchell and Charlie Brooker on satirical news show 10 O'Clock Live, so she's not exactly hit on hard times. Still, it's musics loss, especially considering this faultless pop gem, her first and last single "Don't Falter."
