I enjoyed the James Franco reboot of Planet of the Apes that came out a few years ago, but I was disappointed that it deviated so far from the original prequel storyline. I had no burning interest in seeing the second one.
Then I saw this trailer.
Does that not look intense as hell? And then there was the tv-spot that showed Caesar riding a horse carrying an M-16. And now, just a few days ago, a new trailer came out:
Jesus. Christ. This looks like it's going to be everything I wished the first reboot had been and more.
What do you guys think? Am I alone in my love for the Planet of the Apes franchise?

Nope. You're among friends. Anything that furthers the cause of forgetting that Tim Burton thing ever happened is welcome as far as I'm concerned. The first movie was excellent, and I like that they are doing more than just retreading the original series. Bring this one on.

The Burton one was the only one I never bothered watching. I have a really vivid memory of my old man coming home pissed off after he went and saw it in the theater. I don't know if I've ever seen him visibly upset over a film apart from that one time.

The Burton one was just.. what the fuck. What a mess. So much wasted potential that it soured me on the idea of another retread of the original. And how wrong I was. One of the first movies in years to give me legit goosebumps (Cesar's "NOOOOOO" yell, to be exact).
This looks great as well. Count me in.
