The reason I like your articles so much Trash is that they cover subjects I wouldn't normally click on, but am generally pretty interested in. I admire, but don't watch, MMA (comparing it to genuinely barbaric cruelty like cockfighting is ridiculous. Last time I checked, no-one was forcing two guys into a cage together) and so have heard of some of those guys. I don't think I've seen any of the movies except the A-Team (still not seen the new Captain America movie, so I'm not looking at that particular article).
Movies withstanding, Ronda Rousey is getting a lot of attention from WWE. She's a genuine fan and the WWE love attention from and interaction with UFC etc, so I could see her sooner than the rest. When do MMA fighters retire? When getting the shit kicked out of you for real gets too much, pretending could be a good way to go. Worked for Lesnar.
I am swamped with TV right now. It's ridiculous. We're almost through Lost now (still enjoying it, but I can see why you were turned off by it), so much so that any thought of indulging in a new series right now just isn't going to happen. That being said, Trigun does sound pretty bad-ass. Hmmm.

Anime series typically run from 12-26 half hour (22 or so minutes without commercials) episodes which makes most of them a pretty quick watch compared to catching up on Dexter or Breaking Bad. MMA fighters retire whenever they want to, which varies widely. Sometimes the best of the best keep going until they can't beat anyone anymore or if they get fed up with the business aspect, and sometimes they retire at the top like GSP did. Usually they quit after a few asswhoopings make it apparent that they ain't what they used to be and their friends, fans, and family convince them that it's not worth it anymore.
