To me, this is the golden age of genuinely funny games. Technology and gaming in general has evolved to give writers so much more creative freedom than before. Remember old Simpson's games? A standard platform game with "funny" soundbites was pretty much your lot. Now, the Simpson's Tapped Out is hands down the most intelligent, funny and well written game I've ever played. There's breaking the fourth wall, and then there's this one. Amazing. The Simpson's Game was leaps and bounds above anything that came before it in that regard as well.
I bought the South Park game for the PS3 last week, and I was literally "LOL-ing" while playing it. There's a couple of Family Guy games out there that raise the odd chuckle as well.
So yes indeed, it's a good time to be a gamer if you're wanting genuine laughs with your games. What games tickle your funny bone?

The Portal games are some of the most ingenious works of fiction of the last ten years. And both are full of a really unique dry satirical kind of humor that makes every level a joy to figure out as you anticipate what nugget of absurdity will be waiting around the corner. The Mass Effect games have some really great laughs too. There's this city where you can go around from vendor to vendor and you have the option of using your character's fame to get a discount provided you're willing to record a promo that says "I'm Commander Shepard and this is my FAVORITE store on the Citadel!" Then later in the game you are walking through and every booth has your voice declaring it to be your favorite. Plus the dialogue has so many hilarious moments.
