It seems awful to say that I have no interest in really the only big selling, honest to God American ROCK band not called fucking Nickelback, but damn it all if it isn't true.
Didn't used to be this way. I used to love the Foo Fighters, used to buy every album and every single (for the almost always great b-sides) but I haven't been remotely interested in a Foo Fighters record in years. And in an age where 99% of popular music is now dominated by pop idiots and talentless DJ's, not being invested in a band like the Foo Fighters seems obscene.
So why is that? The music is still technically fine, Dave Grohl is as awesome a guy as ever.. so why can't I give a shit about Foo Fighters music anymore?

I don't know? Overkill maybe? I fill my musical queue with as much diversity as I can so that I don't get tired of any one thing. It kind of happened with metal. After a while it starts sounding kind of the same and although I still love it when a great metal tune comes on my iPod, I just can't get excited about what's happening in the genre like I used to. I only even own two Foo albums (the first two), but when Grohl talks, I always listen and he's almost always right on. Take this bullshit about Taylor Swift pulling her garbage from Spotify. They ask him for a soundbite and he gives them "I don't fucking care" and a whole lot more. restless-press.com/post/102723496062/dave-grohl-on-taylor-swifts-decision-to-pull-from And that's how you do that.

I'm actually in two minds about the Spotify thing. Her reasons were bullshit and lies (she'd signed an exclusive deal with Google for the rights to her music, it had nothing to do with not wanting to be part of an experiment or whatever the fuck she said) but the entitlement of some people really annoys me. Like, how DARE she take her music away so we can't hear all of it for free? Like, how fucking RUDE of her. Some of the online comments were exactly like that.
But yeah, Dave is the man, and that's why it saddens me I can't get excited about his music, especially when there's so little good mainstream rock bands out there.

Hey now, don't be trying to put Nickelback on us Americans. They're a Canadian product!
The Foos though? I've never been inspired by any of their material. Ever. I don't get why they're so highly lauded and universally respected compared to other modern American rock bands like Godsmack or Breaking Benjamin. I mean, neither of those bands are worthy of Foo-level praise either, but I don't see a distinct advantage in musicianship, technicality, catchy hooks or anything else in the Foo's music.
For me personally, I just can't take Dave's voice. I hate his vocals, I hate his delivery, and I've hated his dumb lyrics ever since THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST OF YOOOOU. I more or less respect him as a good guy who does right by the fans and isn't doing anything to damage rock 'n roll, but I don't think I'll ever be a fan.

I didn't know the Foos were still putting out music. When was their last CD even put out?
