So the fourth series of American Horror Story is almost at an end over here, so I thought we'd share our thoughts on it so far. No spoilers please. Personally, I think it's an improvement over the third season. That one was OK, but the story and characters were all over the place and it felt really disjointed at times and nowhere near the standard set by the previous two seasons. Freakshow, although it isn't as unsettling and eerie as the first two seasons (particularly the first season, which I thought was pretty damn frightening), it's still enjoyable. The cast, as always, are great. The characters are well rounded and the story is pretty straight-forward, bar a fucking nuts "ghost" episode that really didn't fit in with the rest of the series. Oh, and there's also this guy. Not so much "Can't Sleep, Clown Will Eat Me" as "Can't Sleep, Clown ohholyfuckingshit CLOWN!!" I'm keeping it deliberately vague here for anyone who hasn't seen it yet (you should) and for me, who hasn't seen the ending yet. What do we think of the show this year?

The ending hasn't happened here either, but this one is a keeper for sure. And although it focuses on a lot of non-horror stuff at times, it features some of the most disturbing things I've ever seen on television. I love the musical numbers so much too. Life on Mars, Gods and Monsters, and Come As You Are are just so fucking fitting for the characters and story. I'd love to have seen Cooper's "Hello, Hooray" in there though. Maybe the finale...

There was a hella weird article I read about how Dandy is every girls new favourite sex symbol. Like..really?
The theme is simple (the real freaks can be found in the highest of society) but man is it slick stuff. It's superb in the fact the genuine human deformation on show barely even registers after the first five minutes, and the real human side of the people involved gets to be shown.
On a similar vein, what did you think of Penny Dreadful? It's been on the Sky Box for the best part of a year but I finally started watching it. All good so far.

Penny Dreadful is pretty cool. Great concept and I could watch Eva Green smirk all day, every day.
