(I just realised this is in the movie section when it should be in the music section. The phone app won't let me move it. With your co-operation we can all get through this). So an attractive blonde celebrity tries to create a catch-phrase, and then quickly copyrights that phrase in the mistaken belief that anyone else on earth will actually want to say it. That was a few years back, the attractive blonde in question was Paris Hilton and the must say phrase was "that's hot." Or that's too hot. Or that's juuuust right. It was either Paris Hilton or Goldilocks, I forget. Anyway, fast forward to 2015 and there's attractive blonde in the form of Taylor Swift, who thinks people will actually want to use the phrase "this sick beat" from her (otherwise pretty damn fun) song "Shake It Off." Would YOU stand next to someone who used terms like "sick beat"? Me neither. So yeah, you can't say it. Not allowed. Copyrighted. Property of Taylor Swift. Except for these guys, who said that if you "give the bourgeoisie an inch, they will take a mile and everything else you have." Taylor, if you can make it out, he's saying your words that you invented over and over and over. Enjoy. m.youtube.com/watch?v=uipp8kiYU9I

I saw this on Yahoo. I think the guy's rhetoric was just a tad sensational, but I agree with him in principle. I hate most celebrities enough as it is without them copyrighting stupid phrases from the music somebody else wrote for them (though with respect to Taylor, I think she's still writing her own lyrics at least).
THE SICK BEAT metal version is awful to listen to, but that's the point I guess.

I'm pretty sure "sick beat" was in common use long before Taylor Swift used it. The word "sick" used in that context had been around at least a decade that i know of and people have been obsessed with beats at least since hip-hop became a big thing in the 80's. And I know I've heard people talk about sick beats before. I hope Taylor Swift dies in a fire.
