Wow, this DOES seem like a long time since I've done this. No gimmicks, no "guilty secrets", no "classics", just back to basics; here is a song I like, what do you think of it?
When you look up the word "Supergroup" on Wikipedia it's pretty surprising how damn many of them there are and how stretched the term "supergroup" actually is (Tin Machine I get, but Foo Fighters are a supergroup? Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds? Really?) and this band didn't even make the damn list, despite being described as a supergroup on their own page. Stoopid Wikipedia.
So you take a guy from the Strokes. You take another guy from Brazilian group Los Hermanos (thankfully not Los Pollos Hermanos, don't fuck with those guys) and add a sprinkling of the heavenly voice of Binky Shapiro. The result? Less a supergroup, more the relaxed sound of three cool kids getting together and making a record for the enjoyment of making music. Remember when people did that?
So "Little Joy", and the album of the same name, were born. A breezy, summery, feel good album with bags of charm and some genuinely great songs, (it was hard to pick what song to play here, so I just went for the lead single 'cos it had a video). It's an old fashioned sounding record that was bought the good old fashioned way; I went into a little record shop, found it, had a chat with the guy behind the counter about music and then bought a weird looking Velvet Underground poster because it looked cool as shit. Isn't that the way it should always be?
So here's "Next Time Around" by Little Joy, and this song is exactly that.

Man, don't you just want to hang out with those guys?
