It's fair to say that the UK has caught, or at least is catching up, with the States in regards to quality drama on television. TV shows like Broadchurch, Fortitude and the Fall are as good as anything you'll find on American TV schedules.
One thing we are sorely lacking in, and I am immensely envious of, is the American chat show. I mean, God damn you guys nail that format. Have done for years. And we've tried to repeat the success through decent if unremarkable fare like Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton, but they simply cannot touch the likes of Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel. Not even close. And the frustrating this is, we don't even get to see these shows and we have to rely on Youtube clips.
I saw that unfunny, fawning, "cry watching Adele" James Cordon has been put behind the desk of one of your high profile chat shows, and I just can't imagine how that's going to work. But Letterman? Leno? Kimmel and Fallon? You don't know how lucky you are.

No mention for Conan O'Brien? The fuck, dude. But we also get The View, which is so unwatchable it cancels out at least Leno, Kimmel, and Letterman by itself. Then there were the mostly-deceased afternoon ones like Oprah and freak shows like Jerry Springer and Jenny Jones that appealed to the most stereotypically brain dead factions America has to offer. Just recognize that there's a shitload of bad that comes long with the good hosts we take for granted.
