Just two weeks left to go before this latest series rides off into the sunset (where DOES the time go?) and I turn my attention to a band I almost completely missed. I went to see MGMT the last time they played my area, and the support band was someone I'd never heard of and almost missed due to time. By the time I had seen them I had made my trip to the merch stand to buy their album right there and then. See kids, you never know what you'll see before the main show. The band in question are Guards, a three piece from New York who make the sort of heartbroken, Phil Spector-ish rock and roll I will never tire of hearing. They were funny live, the album is great and they do a fucking superb Debbie Harry cover. Invest your time, and rest assured you will no doubt hear this on some cool TV show in the future, if you haven't already. This is "Ready To Go." www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdLqDTP-ne4

I was sold about ten seconds in, but now I have a sudden craving for ice cream...
