Scrolling through the horror titles on Netflix reminds me a little of browsing through the endless horror videos in my local video store. Intriguing looking covers but almost certainly nothing worth watching. I've tried dipping into the odd promising looking horror film on Netflix and have always been left disappointed. Until last night. New Zealand seem to have a knack for creating quirky, off-beat stuff that you instantly take to your heart. Flight of the Conchordes? Brain Dead? Another to add to that heady bunch is "Homebound", a film that manages the almost impossible unlockable achievement of being genuinely funny and genuinely frightening at the same time. So a girl gets arrested and has a tag put on her ankle and forced to stay at home with her parents in a house in the middle of nowhere (they still have dial up internet! Fucking savages!) and she soon notices spooky shit going on in the house. That's enough of a synopsis, here's the trailer. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJew_11l6n8You may have seen this, you may have not. And if you haven't, make sure you have.

Oh yeah, it's always best to get the title of the movie I'm recommending correct. Yeah, Housebound. Well worth a look. Let me know what you think.

Nice call. After being disappointed with Babadook (which was supposed to be terrifying, but was just alright) it's cool to suddenly run into a flick that gave me some legit creeps. That bear scene was great.
