Last week I finished, almost weeping and at gunpoint by Mrs C, the final season of the Mentalist. Or, as it became known, The Fucking Mentalist. Good show in it's prime, great at times, but WOW did it drag its heels. Once the central point of the show, the serial killer Red John, had reached its eventual (disappointing) conclusion, there was another 20 episodes left to suffer through before it reached its almost tension free climax. Put bluntly, the Mentalist went on way too long.
I'm not the type of knee-jerk reactionary irritant you read on certain message boards and Jump the Shark type discussions who think a show needs to end as soon as it slightly dips (otherwise I'd be calling for the Simpson's head about eight years ago). But a show going through the motions and spinning its wheels is no fun for anyone. American Office, I'm looking at you.
Any shows you felt like shouting "END! JUST END!" at?

Heroes. It didn't go on for that long, but it started getting old early into the second season and became a chore to watch pretty quickly. Four seasons seemed like way too much. and they're bringing it back? HOW!? WHY?! People are still clamoring for more Firefly and I have yet to meet anyone who gives a shit about Heroes. Lost actually had me calling for the end around the fifth season so it isn't a major offender either since it only went on for six, but they definitely dragged their ass on the ground trying to avoid cleaning up the mess they had made for a good long while before ending it with everyone left unsatisfied.

Oh, man. Heroes. So. Much. Potential. How do you fuck up a show that has Hayden Panittiere dressed in a cheerleaders outfit?! I gave up on that way before the end, and why they're bringing that shit back? Did anyone want that? Are they even getting the same cast again?
