Been a while, I know, so I decided to start this particular ball rolling again. Shall we? The following band I once had on a balance between "indifference" and "genuine dislike." The music was fine, but the hype was insufferable and the lead singer's seemingly inevitable drug fuelled demise was just sad to see. The band split up after two albums and almost nightly live no-shows which began to be their trademark, and it seemed to be all over from there. I stand today corrected; lead singer Pete Doherty has, apparently, conquered his many demons, the band have reunited and after a string of well received live shows (I was at one of them), a new album was released to good reviews as well. The Libertines are back, baby. Pale, disheveled youths with guitars playing ramshackle rock and roll with a heart is about as British as it gets, and it's easy to see why the Libertines did become heroes to a lot of people. I have no idea how successful, if at all, they were in the US, but over here Pete Doherty is front page tabloid news (or was, back when he was on the smack and breaking into his band mates houses to get money for gear) and this song, "Don't Look Back Into the Sun", is one of their finest. Take a listen. youtu.be/jLYsIESNtUc
