Apologies for the lateness. Busy. Yadda. Anyway, it happens to most great bands, and it's no slight on them, just an irritating fact of life. Over time, the mainstream will try to embrace our favourite bands. Queen had a musical made about them and their songs have become a staple of the X Factor every year. The Smith's beautiful "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" was covered for some mawkish, point absolutely missed cover for a Christmas campaign. Stupid teenage girls wear Ramones and Rolling Stone t-shirts, all the while saying One Direction are the "best band eva." It sucks, it's never going to change, but rest assured friends, this will not happen to the Sleaford Mods. A mixture of Ian Dury meets Sid Vicious over stark hip-hop beats, Sleaford Mods have been out for a few years but only recently started getting any kind of media buzz. Their music is a welcome antidote for the otherwise poisonous musical landscape. Songs about poverty, anger, racism, boredom..Noel Gallagher dismissed them as "a madman shouting about shit chicken", after they accused him of having "blood on his hands." This song is a perfect introduction to the Sleaford Mods, even though not all of their songs sound like this (that would be fucking exhausting to sit through). If you can't start with a song called "Jolly Fucker", where can you? It may not translate 100%, as it's very British, but see what you think. And no, that's not CM Punk in the background. youtu.be/NyXt5dPEfeQ(And sadly, no plans for this to be the new X Factor Christmas single)

And punk returns to its true roots from whence it came. Full circle. YES. So is the "band" literally just a dude shouting into a mic with a bass and drum backing track while some other dude in a Chief Wiggum t-shirt just hangs out in the background? Because that would be awesome. I clicked on another random video and it was the same thing. Same shirt and everything. It's not something I'd want to listen to all day, but the sheer balls of it is something I've got to respect.
