Like the coolest kids, the Beatles are always the last to arrive at the party and everyone makes the biggest deal that they showed up at all. The last band to be available on iTunes in the past, and everyone lost their shit expecting the charts to be filled with nothing but Beatles hits. Now they've finally made their back catalogue available on Spotify, Apple Music etc, and everyone is making bold claims that they'll change streaming forever.
It won't happen, of course. They didn't light up the download charts the way people expected, and I can't see them suddenly rivalling Justin Bieber on the streaming stakes, as bad as that sounds. I think the issue with the Beatle's is that they seem to be a band that people need to OWN, physically. So when they finally became available on iTunes anyone who really wanted to buy into the band already had? Maybe the Beatles music online just doesn't... feel.. right?
Regardless, the fact that you can now stream Revolver, Abbey Road and Sgt Pepper's can only be a good thing. It's not everyone is going to go out of their way to hunt down Beatles records, now they're available for everyone at anytime. If that means more people will click out of fucking Bieber and onto the Beatles then hey, it's all good.

So Apple Music doesn't have the entire iTunes library to stream already? I assumed they already had the Beatles. But yeah, I downloaded a bunch of their albums on Spotify to add to my nightly album bonanza. Let It Be and Please Please Me did not disappoint. Their songs are lighting up pretty good though. Come Together alone is pushing 5 mil. Who knew that was everyone's favorite? I'd have figured Hey Jude (only 3.5 mil in third just behind Here Comes the Sun) would take the top spot.

Pass on Apple Music actually, I assumed they didn't.
I'm not a fan of their very early albums ("Please Please Me") because there's a lot of covers and really bare bones pop. They really excelled in their later albums. Take a listen to the White Album. It's all over the fucking place with weird cuts, silly songs and then a heartbreaking piece of absolute genius like Where My Guitar Gently Weeps surprises you or Helter Skelter kicks the shit out of you.

Listened to Revolver last night. Yellow Submarine is lame, but still a great album. I did notice that PPM was just a collection of sappy love songs. Great poppy love songs, but too single-minded to be a GOAT album. Just started listening to Cheap Trick's live album where they play Sgt. Pepper in its entirety. The Beatles' songwriting and Cheap Trick's sound is the best combination since Dylan's words and Johnny Cash's voice.
