So we had inauthentic chancers playing dress-up last week that didn't exactly set the Fortress on fire (thankfully, I'm not insured) so I thought we'd go with a band a bit more 4 Real (just not in a Richey Edwards cutting it into your own arm kind of way). Won't lie, I didn't discover this band, Mrs C did, but after hearing the album and seeing them live, they are very much my band too.
It's these guys.
Oops, wait, not it's not. But when you name yourself after an old school British sweet, you better have the tunes to back it up. Thankfully, the Palma Violets
That's the fellows, certainly do. A familiar blend of disheveled British rock and roll, all sweaty guitars, slicked back hair and shouty choruses, the Palma Violets are a world away from the preening fakery of last weeks band. This is "Best of Friends", and like one of the comments says, if you ever get friend-zoned, this is the tune to do it to.
