Admire the rainbow. Rock the rainbow.
Man, fuck the rainbow.
If you hadn't made a thread about this and I'd saw this myself I'd have probably winced and cringed a little but then moved on, figuring it was just another in the long line of shameless selling out that Tyler has done in the last ten or so years.
Someone told me that Aerosmith had songwriters and I didn't believe it, I figured it was ALL Tyler and Perry. What songs did they have written for them?

They worked with some pretty legit outside rock songwriters beginning with their late-80's comeback and it worked out really well for them for three albums, but starting in the 00's they started going with the songwriters they enlist for American Idol winners and now here we are. And their now-signature hit "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" was written by Diane Warren (whose regular customers include Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, Faith Hill, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, and the like) and the entire band except for Steven Tyler hates it. And now they are fucking butchering their classic material to hawk shit-tier candy. My favorite band of all time for half my life and I have lost every shred of interest in them.

And right behind Steven Tyler comes another legend whose card we must pull. www.theguardian.com/music/2016/may/23/rock-music-is-dead-red-hot-chili-peppers-flea-pearl-jamFucking Flea? I'd never have thought he'd be such an institutionalized corporate butthole that he'd say something so stupid. Rock has always been a money-making opportunity and image has always been a thing, but how arrogant do you have to be to be like "yeah we are awesome, but everyone that comes after us are a bunch of sellouts". FUCK. YOU. Real rock is happening in the underground without anybody's permission or financial backing. All it needs are some people who want to kick ass and some more people who want to hear something awesome. As long as those two things exist, rock as an art form literally cannot die. It's just a question of having the balls to go out and find it instead of whining because no corporations are paying to have it beamed across the airwaves like so much pop slop. Flea, pack up you're shit; you've been expelled. Who's next?

Those GIFs are how I felt after watching Some Kind of Monster for the first time. It's always a sad day when former heroes no longer interest a guy, let alone inspire you.

Don't even get me started on that shit. I'll never get the image of Mustaine blubbering about only fronting the second biggest thrash metal band on the planet out of my head.

Spooky. During my absence over the last five or so days I read the exact same article and was going to post it up too. If I was 17 years old and trying to start a band, nothing would piss me off more than some millionaire 50 year old rockstar with 30 years in the business talking about how shit and corporate everything is and dismissing rock as dead. Fuck that guy.
I get that there is an element to what he's saying, and there's a breed of "rock" band that fit what he's saying; bands like the Kooks, a British band formed from stage school and full of the empty posturing that they think rock stars do, need to die. No question. But the music that Trashy was talking about, the genuine fucking desire to make some good music with a bunch of friends and see the world and make records? I'll buy into that every day of the week.
