Something I've noticed recently is the rising, tiresome Marvel vs DC battle. Obviously the two have always been rivals, and in comic book fandom the divide is an obvious one. But it seems to have gone beyond "Captain America: Civil War was a BETTER movie than Superman vs Batman" and more into "ha, suck it DC! Captain America took $134 million more in it's opening week in America than Superman vs Batman!"
When the fuck did this start?
Debating which movies are better? Which team of heroes is better? Who had the better writers? The better cast? Bring that on. But when did this number crunching nonsense start?
Anyone else noticed this?

I pay it no mind. It's a worthwhile discussion, but I don't want either to fail. The more awesome entertainment at my disposal, the better. It just so happens that Marvel makes consistently better movies and DC makes consistently better TV shows and they are both over the hill in the comic book department.
