I know, I know. There's late to the party and then there's showing up when everyone has gone home. But that's where I am right now.
Me and Mrs C had actually started watching Community over a year ago, but for some reason it didn't really click and so it halted after about five episodes. It was actually Mrs C's idea to give it another shot as the whole series is on Netflix. We'd give it a couple of episodes and see how it goes.
I think the main problem for me was I didn't really know WHAT to expect with the show, maybe I expected something a little more realistic or "edgy" and not the cartoony world that the cast of Community live in. Maybe I expected the UK Office and got Scrubs. And, hey, either is fine.
Anyway, those few episodes were three days ago. We're now almost finished season two and haven't watched anything else since. In fact, a Belle & Sebastian gig ended an hour earlier than we expected and her first words were "ooh, good, we'll be able to watch more Community when we get home." The exact same thing happened with the American Office (even though that dipped BADLY in the later seasons). So yeah we're late to the party but we're still having fun.
I love the little nods to previous episodes, even though it's a fairly formulaic "new adventure" every week there's a continuity and flow to the story. The zombie level was a blast. The KFC space mission was up there with the best of the show so far. It's not perfect (some episodes don't click, the Aved making a movie about God episode sucked, the British guy isn't funny and Shirley is really fucking annoying at times) but we are hooked.
And do I need a reason to post hot Annie pics?
Just.. oh my God what a vision of loveliness. That sound is her crashing straight into my top ten.
TL;DR - Community is great.
