Mrs C listens to the radio. I don't mind some of the chatter in between songs, but usually the music is hot garbage. So I can say that any new music I discover is almost always NOT from the radio. So where else does one find new music? Blogs, friends, Facebook..and of course, TV. Ever used the "Shazam" app? Hear a song on TV you like, one quick "Shazam" and you know what it is, no more trying to remember lyrics and then googling them to find out what the song is. Christ, we used to live like fucking cavemen. So this week's song was discovered from TV, and it was actually for an ad for Sky TV. Not exactly the most rock n roll pedigree, but you've got to start somewhere. Like last week's entry, this Brooklyn singer is from a classically trained background (she was taught classical music, and used an upright classical piano to compose her own songs at the age of six), she met fellow musicians who helped her create Elizabeth and the Catapult. So, it's pop music, but not in the "get down in the club" bullshit mentality that I hear from Mrs C's witless radio shows, it's more piano led polished pop, quirky lyrics and perfect melodies. Hey, what's not to like? www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-Ved2Jq4Yk
