That's totally a Joker thing and not just a really fucking gross thing some childish shit would do and blame on his acting technique because he's such an artiste. His performance was lame and unnecessary, and yet it has taken all of the attention from the rest of the movie, his band is shit, and he's just become the most annoying twat in Hollywood. Why did Ledger have to be the one to die? If the Olsen twins offer Jared Leto some pills, he'd better take ALL OF THAT SHIT. Just saying. |

Well, I was going to continue the original Suicide Squad thread, but this seems like a good enough place to do it. I saw the movie at the weekend. Not impressed.
I mean, it was.. OK and enjoyavble. In the same way that, say, The Rocketeer was OK and enjoyable. But if we're judging these big comic book movies against Marvel's series, it falls to a distinct last.
I thought it was a messy, disjointed affair that was clearly in love with Harley and Deadshot and couldn't give two fucks about the other ones. Did we ever find out why Boomerang keeps that stuffed unicorn in his jacket? Were we supposed to care, or was it just because he's LOL quirky? The villain was like something out of the Power Rangers and the end fight scene I think ranks among the very worst in recent memory. So a hundred thousand year old witch is still stupid enough to fall for "hey, I've been fighting your army and gunning for you this entire fucking movie, but now I'm totally on your side and not going to kill you at all." Who's writing this shit? It's done amazingly well and made stupid money so any criticism is moot, but yeah.. I was not a fan at all.
As for the Joker..
Where to start with that? Absolutely superfluous to the movie itself, the performance was so over-egged it was all a bit cringe-worthy. That Rick Ross music video is just.. wow. Dire.
I've now read though that Leto was trying to distance himself from the movie after the negative reviews. He'll probably change his tune when he sees the box office, though.

That guy has very quickly shot up to the top my least favorite people in Hollywood list. First you bitch that the entire movie wasn't all about you and then when it gets reamed by critics you try to act like you shouldn't have been in it at all? Have some fucking balls, man! At this point I have very little faith in any of the upcoming DC films, even though I like what I've seen of the Flash and WW. But a Batman movie built around Affleck and Leto? I'd rather go see the next Adam Sandler movie.

I think this movie is going to come and bite him in the ass, I really do. I can see a "do not hire" sign attached to this guy in the future. There was already a video showing the rest of the cast out at a football game or something, with the tagline "even the cast want nothing to do with him."

I'm not sure if I've ever come out and said it here, but I'm over the whole superhero craze, and I have been for about 2 years now. The last superhero movie I paid money to see in the theater was Captain America II, which was admittedly pretty good. Someday maybe I'll illegally stream Captain America Civil War, but apart from that I'm done.
My only exposure to Suicide Squad has been through the threads here at the Fortress. I've intentionally avoided the trailers and the predictions and the whole to-do. Nothing about the cast or the concept intrigues me at all, because it seems like every single one of these superhero/villain "all-star" movies ends up being riddled with cheesy action tropes and awful one-liner humor--more so than any other superhero movie, I mean. I can't stand to watch it.
Jared Leto as the Joker? Fuck off, DC. I don't like that guy at all. As much as some people love him and his acting, he's always come across to me like HE thinks more highly of himself than any fan possibly could. Leto would still be stroking his ego if he lived in a cardboard box on the street. This whole psychotic Joker thing, as little as I know about it (praise Jesus for that), is such a transparent publicity stunt. It's no wonder DC continues to warm the bench behind Marvel.

They were relevant at some point? I read somewhere that he thought Suicide Squad was going to be some big artistic endeavor. Seriously? He thought he was dressing up like a juggalo pimp driving around with Batman hanging on the roof of his car and sending used condoms to his coworkers for an art film? And he's criticizing the movie having not even seen it? What an absolute fucking moron. I've always thought Johnny Depp might maker a good Joker. Just saying, Warner Brothers.
