Well, we've lost some amazing artists in the last couple of years or so, at least two of which were among the greatest performers ever, but if there is one thing to be gained from a world without Prince or Bowie, it's this:
I'd hardly even dared to hope. Danzig being a complete piece of shit/genuine maniac and Jerry Only being a born again Christian straight edge businessman, it seemed unlikely those two would ever share a stage again, but they've now played not one, but two reunion shows after the early deaths of two music legends showed them that life is too short and you never know when your last chance to rock will be. Granted, reports say Danzig had to spend a significant amount of the sets catching his breath and engaging in banal stage banter between songs (including admiring his own stage decorations), but still: fuuuuuuck, the Misfits are back!
If I get a chance to witness yet another legendary band that broke up before my time playing together again a'la Black Sabbath and KISS, then I look forward to an experience I'll never forget, but even if all I get out of the deal is a decent-sounding double live album, I'm coming out ahead. Fingers crossed for a tour, though. Danzig apparently doesn't believe in the internet and supposedly had goons policing the crowd to stop any decent recordings from getting out, but this is 2016, motherfucker. Good luck with that.
The sound is uniformly shit, but that dude did some crazy good editing and it's amazing just to see a band that broke up in absolute obscurity so long ago playing on such a badass stage with the crowd's vocals literally overwhelming the singer's at times. Oh, and that is Slayer's legendary Dave Lombardo on the drums. They couldn't have picked a more badass drummer. I've got to see this shit. Welcome back, fiends. Please stay awhile.
