A fairly easy, straight forward week this time around. No real explanation necessary AND you've almost certainly heard the song before as well. Why, this could be the most by the numbers entry ever. Well, maybe. Because it's a band that we've never talked about before, at least I don't think we have. I don't imagine anyone here is really overly fond of them or anything, but.. well, you'll definitely have heard of them. And it was only after hearing this song by chance on iTunes that got me thinking about them again. It's these guys. I know, I did it too. The eye-roll and smile. My Chemical Romance. Emo overlords from an odd moment in time when "emo" was actually a pop phenomenon. But, snide comments aside, there's no doubt My Chemical Romance were huge, and when they're comeback was (incorrectly) announced last month the internet went into a bit of a meltdown, so there's obviously still love for this band and these songs. And this song, really their defining moment, is genuinely great. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRKJiM9Njr8

God, I hate the sight of these posers trying to be Queen in those stupid outfits. And then they try to be punk and fail even harder at that. It's a shame that the chorus is actually really good, but no. No. These pretentious pretty boys with their neutered sound just can't pull it off. I can applaud them a little for trying something different, but I'd applaud a good band who can actually carry it off much more enthusiastically.

See, I knew this was the first time mentioning these guys. Yeah, I was never a fan. "I'm Not OK" and this are fine, and I do love this particular song, but this whole "genre" completely left me cold. I do think they've purposely went for an "iconic" look rather than creating a look that became iconic through sheer cultural weight, so yeah, posers is pretty apt.
