This series is slowly reaching it's natural conclusion, so I thought I'd throw a bit of a curveball and hit you up with a bit of a flashback - a band we've already played here, but with an almost 20 year gap in between songs. I've not done that yet have I? Soo.. Bis. Then. Vs Bis. Now. Even though the line-up remains the same, even though they haven't changed that much, what's noticeable is the band's sound has changed since the bratty lo-fi stomp of "Kandy Pop" in 1996. They were always keen to, maybe not move on, but certainly progress from that particular sound (because really, there's only so much you can do with it), so later albums saw Bis tinker with straight up disco pop and even shimmering grown up electronica. Their latest album, their first in about 13 years, saw them pick the guitars back up and ditch the drum machine, giving a heavier, more muscular live sound and a sense of them having a genuine point to prove. "Data Panik Etcetera" is Bis's fourth (and hopefully not final album), there were no singles to speak of, so no music video sadly, but here's a band that seem to be getting better with age. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkkzOF6AZpoAlso, take a look at the artwork for the Kandy Pop EP. Now look at the new album. Can anyone with a love of Christopher Lee be bad?

Kandy Pop's vocals were a little bit iffy, but this one sounds ready for prime time, but without losing the childish fun sound that made that one good.
