The 21st of April saw a year pass since Prince died. Some good news came in the form of the actual track listing of the deluxe re-release of Purple Rain, some excellent and very surprising news came in the form of a brand new EP called "Deliverance", boasting 5 completely unheard recordings from around ten years ago. www.theguardian.com/music/2017/apr/19/prince-ep-deliverance-unreleased-tracks-anniversary-of-deathSo far, so good. But who are we talking about again? Ah yes. Prince. A guy who had a video removed from YouTube because it had a baby dancing along to "Let's Go Crazy" on the radio. A guy who put cease and desist orders to fan sites DEVOTED to him because they kept using his likeness and symbol images. How dare they, right? So, even in death, some things don't change. The 5 track EP was going to be an unofficial release from a sound engineer who happened to have the tracks. It was announced on Monday that it was due for release on Friday. The good news lasted until Wednesday until.. www.theguardian.com/music/2017/apr/21/prince-deliverance-ep-blocked-by-estateYeah, his label blocked it. So no delivery of Deliverance after all. Looks like we'll have to wait until June for the Purple Rain re-issue for that second disc of sweet, sweet unheard music after all.

Seriously? I figured when they immediately put up all of his music on every streaming service, they were ready to milk his legacy for all it was worth.
