Dangerously low in quality. After the superb first single, "Crazy In Love", you'd be forgiven for thinking that this Beyonce album was going to be something a bit special. Instead, what you actually get is that brilliant track and 14 duds. It probably wasn't a good idea putting "Crazy In Love" as the first track, because it really soars, high above any other pop song that year, but the comedown back to earth is slow and painful. From the dire collaboration with nonsense peddler Sean Paul to the boring ballad "Me Myself And I" (an answer to who actually LIKES the rest of the album, maybe?) the urge to skip back to track one gets harder and harder with every sub-par ballad (and there's a LOT of them) and mawkish, glassy-eyed Christian "I love you, God" rubbish. If Beyonce was wanting to distance herself from Destiny's Child, then maybe she did just that. I'm no expert on them, but surely the other girls (Horse-Face and Other One) would have rejected about 90% of this album as nothing but filler. But then again, I have HEARD the rest of Destiny's Child's "Survivor" album, so maybe not. Beyonce is, creatively speaking at least (her stuff sells by the ton, admittedly) in trouble. "Crazy In Love" could well be an unbeatable effort on her behalf, that one song she'll just never better - especially if her most recent effort ("Check On It" from the new Pink Panther film) is anything to go by. But that's more crap for another day, folks. See Beyonce: Me, Myself and I www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw74Wp29HX4
