OK, let's get this ball rolling again because there's a whole other bunch of movies out there that just have never really got any attention in here. And here's a movie you may have heard of through another movie, because really, when you have a title like this it's too good to waste on a phony trailer that you may or may not have seen depending on where you live in the world. So Tarantino's "Grindhouse" had a few fake trailers for other movies as part of it's entire kitsch appeal, and "Machete" was actually made into a movie, but so was today's feature presentation. Ladies and gentlemen, Hobo With a Shotgun. Starting with a genuinely great intro that was a perfect homage to the 70's, it then turns into the sort of weird, throw everything at the wall and see what sticks madness the likes of 80's Troma movies made famous. In the opening five minutes a guy is decapitated and a woman in a bikini runs in and starts dancing in the blood gushing out. Talk about setting the tone. And it goes on from there, with Rutger Hauer as the nameless hobo who's seen enough of his ultra violent, not sure if the future or the past, surroundings and the psychopaths who run the city. That's pretty much it, throw in some unbelievable gore and a tongue firmly embedded in its cheek and that's your movie, a gleefully dumb retro splatter fest that probably doesn't hold up to repeat viewings but is certainly worth an initial look. Here's the (actual) trailer.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssHEAOrAdCU

You know, I swear I watched this when it came out, but I somehow have no memory of the plot. Weird. Anyways, I approve.
