So now my hand is slowly but surely getting better I've been catching up on some much missed Playstation gaming. And looking at my PSN profile and scrolling through the various games I've played over the years on PS3 and 4 something is alarmingly evident - I'm not close to REALLY finishing most of them. In fact, that most hallowed of all things, the Platinum Trophy (I'm not sure what the XBox equivalent is) has only been achieved twice. Sure, I've completed a bunch of games, but going back into them and unlocking every single thing, doing certain tasks a number of times or whatever.. who's got the time for that?
Example: I played the first 3 Uncharted games. Loved them all, completed them all. But I didn't find every bit of hidden treasure scattered across the games and I didn't complete them all using just one gun or without taking any hits in one level or ... you get the idea. Nope, didn't do it. Does that really mean I'm missing out and not getting the full "experience" of the game?
They're nice to get, sure, and that little "ding" when you unlock one will never get old, but trophy hunting.. are you in?

Nah. I enjoy getting rare trophies, but I won’t pour extra hours into a game just to see one pop. They give me nothing beyond a few seconds of satisfaction or a giggle if the name is particularly clever. What they should do is allow them to be used as in-game currency or to get prizes from an online store like tickets at a carnival. Something useful.
