Sucks to be Snipes.

I don't know if this is old news, but movie star news isn't exactly flowing in Gran Canaria. Seems the star of the first great Marvel adaptation (that'd be Wesley Snipes and that'd be Blade) did get put away for his tax dodging after all.

I always remember a quote from The Simpson's regarding Krusty going to jail (for pretty much the same offence, if memory serves). "Krusty.. this is AMERICA. We don't send our celebrities to jail."

But it seems that Snipe's lawyer is saying the exact opposite, that Snipe's is going to jail - because he's Wesley Snipes.

I like to think Wesley quoted the best line from the first Blade movie when he heard the news. Altogether now...

The tide has really turned as far as letting celbrities slide goes. We USED to let them off the hook; hell, OJ murdered 2 people and still walks among us. Now we want their blood, regardless of the offense. Snipes has been in talks for years to play Black Panther, but he just hasn't been able to get his shit together. Why it is that people with unspeakable wealth are usually the ones skipping out on their taxes is a mystery to me. Dumbasses; don't they know that's how they got Capone?

Poor ol' Wes.... Maybe the jury had seen Blade 3, or something?

As for skipping tax - maybe that's how they stay so unspeakably wealthy?
