I hated Troy, and I'd have to be forced at gunpoint to watch an extended cut, improvement or not.
But you're right - there ARE too many of these sorts of films out, which is maybe why I had zero interest in it.
It wasn't terrible, which is why I didn't put it in MY Amazon reviews, but I just don't rate those kind of movies.
As I call them in our house (to my wife's annoyance) "Pan Pipe Movies." As SOON as you hear pan pipes in a films score, you can bet your life its going to suck.

"Pan Pipe Movies". Nice. Definitely a love 'em or hate 'em genre of film. I'm all about medeivel warfare and mythology and elf maidens and all that shit so I'm predisposed in favor. If you aren't....well, let's just say you probably weren't a virgin for nearly as long as I was.

I have to disagree with you about Spartacus and 300. Spartacus was Kubrick's first major motion picture, so I assume thats why it felt like another Sword and Sandal epic that was common for it's time. 300 was flashy, gimmicky, and down right silly. Then again, maybe I was just spoiled by Ridley Scott's Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven.
(Need to re-watch Braveheart sometime soon)

I didn't care for 300 much. Don't get me wrong, it looked awesome, but I don't think it had much else going for it. All in all, I found it kind of dull.

"300" was lots of fun, but ultimately just a bit overrated. And I hate, I hate, I HATE CG blood. I play too many video games to not know it when I see it and it takes me out of the film every time I do. "Spartacus" was awesome if slightly homoerotic. Haven't seen KOH, I heard it sucked but now I may check it out. Oh, and welcome, Mac. Interesting that you hate bad movies but have Hedorah as your (totally sweet) avatar. Your idea of "bad" must be a very nuanced one. Perfect.
