OK, I really, REALLY shouldn't be here, as I have a frightening amount of work to do in a short space of time, but damn it all, this place just keeps calling me back. Anyway, something to keep this place ticking over (although you do seem to be doing a nice job of that yourselves, which I'm VERY pleased to see). As the title suggests - this is YOUR chance to sell a band or an artist that YOU like but maybe the world hasn't heard of yet. From Youtube or Myspace or whatever, put a link up of a song you want your fellow Dwellers to become aware of. Why, only a few weeks ago I introduced Isis to Glasvegas (who I'm going to see in a few weeks), and, hey, that's how music works, right? Word of mouth is a key to discovering new bands. So let's start here. My first (and only, I have to go soon) choice to start with will be from an American band I discovered purely by chance, and this is their new single released only a few weeks ago. If you hear a more heartbreaking, beautiful sound this week you may well have died and gone to Heaven. Which isn't really a big possibility if you're a fan of this site. Mates of State - Get Better www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdoYK9jOltQNow I know we're all into vastly different things on this board (which is a good thing), so this may be a chance to show the world YOUR tastes and try and convert some new followers.

Prayer Before Gunfight www.myspace.com/pbgbandThey're a local band in my college town of Cullowhee, North Carolina (my roommate had a class with the guitarist this past semester), but if they manage to get discovered I promise you they'll be famous one day. Their sound just works so well, described by themselves as "the soundtrack to a western with automatic weapons". I think the best way to define their music would be: swanky groove rock with a metalcore flavor and a bit of spaghetti western sprinkled on top. I saw them perform live at least half a dozen times over the course of the past year and they put on one hell of a show, full of energy and always booming, frequently chaotic and very capable of sucking you into the experience. Really, if the right people hear their demos, these guys are going to skyrocket to the top and take the industry by storm.

When I first listened to this band, Benjamin, I thought you were kidding. That little "cowboy" intro thing? Very clever.
Yes, yes, yes. This is my sort of thing indeed. It's got some nice guitar work but sounds lo-fi at the same time.
Excellent.

This is a band I discovered on the net and its a band I've yet to actually get a CD for. But everything I have, (check their Myspace if you're interested) is superb. Joyous, lo-fi racket - just what the doctor ordered. Anyway, the following link is for 3 free MP3's of Machine Go Boom. The other two aren't their best works (like I said - Myspace), but the first track is never off my iPod. I'm not sure if he's singing about being abused or not.. www.machinegoboom.com/home.htm
