I actually had a couple of those toys (I had the Rambo and the bad guy with the glasses) but we never had those toy ads. That is amazing.

Ahhhh....the Slime Pit! You know what was great about it? The handling of the slime...and the smell! Bizarrely, it was quite a wonderful smell. Of course, the drawback to "sliming" any toy was that this stuff really got into those hard to clean places of the figures. A fucking clever way of forcing kids to rebuy the toys...probably made that executive a billion overnight!

Pac-Man. Anyone remember how big this really was? I sure do...and I had the ENTIRE album inspired by the popularity of this game. It's PAC-MAN FEVER by Buckner & Garcia, which you hear the title song during the commercial. Sorry, Mario!

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I'm pretty sure we never got any of those ads over in the UK (maybe a couple of those Transformer ones - speaking of which, the image of the boy turning INTO a Transformer would give anyone nightmares).
