Now, we all know the wonder and awesomeness that is Weird Al. And while his parodies are spot on and everything, the song "BOB" (which I'd never heard before) is reaching new levels of brilliance. It's an obvious visual parody of the Bob Dylan video "Subterranean Homesick Blues", but see if you can spot what he's doing with the lyrics. I won't spoil it for you right now, so make sure you don't read any of the video descriptions. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nej4xJe4TdgDo you see what he's doing? Every lyric is a palindrome. Every damn one. I had to watch the video a few times to make sure every lyric was the same thing backwords. Mind blowing. Really, really clever stuff. Man, Weird Al ROCKS.

Weird Al was the first musician I ever worshiped. That was amazing. I could spend the rest of my days trying to do anything that cool and I would have wasted my life. Beautiful.

So what's your fave Weird Al songs, Trashy? Feel free to post any vids or links. I don't know a great deal about his stuff, to be honest. I've heard White and Nerdy and Eat It and the major stuff, but not much else. Have you seen UHF?

I could not tell you how many times I watched "UHF". My favorite scene: Honestly, I don't see much difference between the parody and the source material other than casting.
Who says Al isn't controversial? Coolio had a fucking little bitch fit over this: He thought "his" song was too serious to be parodied. Well, maybe Stevie Wonder wants his song back, asshole! Get some creativity, already! God I hate these thieves masquerading as musicians.
My favorite Weird Al song is an actual cover of a stone classic. See for yourself: So funny.
I think it was Dave Grohl who said that he knew he'd made it when he heard this:
I LOVE this new video feature. ;D

Yeah I just noticed that new feature too. Pretty cool, especially because you can watch the video without having to let your soul rot by reading the "OMG U R GAY" comments. Why are 99% of people on Youtube fucking retards? I'd seen the Amish Paradise one before, and I'm actually surprised he got away with it. I think if that had been in the UK there would be no way that would go un-questioned. It's awesome. Coolio sounds like a dick if he complains about a Weird Al parody. At least Chamillionaire had the good humour to enjoy the "White and Nerdy" song. He even said Al was a good rapper. There's always been one artist Weird Al's wanted to do, but his own rule is he never does a parody unless he gets the original artist's blessing. Go on, take a guess who won't let him cover a song.. There's a shocker, eh? Anyway, here's my all-time favourite moment of UHF, something I used to put the video in just to watch. Everything about that scene just works like a charm. The horrible kid, the crappy set and Bobbo's priceless "hurt" face and trumpet noise. Just.. perfect. Brilliant "Rambo" parody too, Trashy. You know, you look at inspired, inventive, FUNNY parodies like this and then the wretched trash that passes for "parody" today and it makes you feel like you've just eaten a box of Happy's Dog Biscuits.

My favorite bit of Weird Al's oeuvre, by far, is his parody of R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet", called "Trapped in the Drive-Thru". If ever there was anything that deserved to be parodied, this is it, and Al does it to genius effect.

Uggh. Expertly written but man, I think that was harder to sit through than the original.
