Let's pretend, for now, that remakes, reboots, updates, prequels and "re-imaginings" don't exist in today's horror genre.
Well, that's 99% of horror movies fucked, then.
Seriously, what news of a NEW entry in the respective canon's of the above listed films would get you most excited? Now remember, they can't ignore what has gone before (no "ah, but the last three films don't count" Halloween H20 tricks here) - no, these have to be CANON sequels.
So would a new entry into the lives of the TCM family be your first choice? Or Psycho V, where (a new actor obviously, and very, very sadly) is Norman Bates, trying to live a normal life after the events of part IV, but with old demons still haunting him? Or the next chapter in the life of Michael Myers, after he escaped from the morgue after meeting his match at the hands of Busta Rhymes? ....... Yeah, maybe that one should be wiped from the slate..
Your choice, people. Any of the above, or maybe they're a top horror franchise I've not thought about. And I don't mean Saw.

Man, I'm a dumbass. I had just finished writing "if I haven't forgotten any" and I turned around and saw the big Evil Dead poster in my room.
Now THAT is something I would love to see. No son of Ash, no young Bruce Campbell and NO Sam Raimi stand in. Evil Dead IV: Back to the Woods.
THAT would be the film of the year.

Truthfully, none of the above, but I think Evil Dead has the best chance of being good with Bruce and Sam on board so I second that motion.

I think there is talk of there being a remake of Evil Dead, and for me that will just be the end of horror as we know it.

Ahh, Troll 2. You know, I've never actually SEEN it, but I've heard of its legendary awfulness.
Was there ever a first Troll movie?
