Well, I've said from day one its a bad idea. I.. just can't see it working. I mean, who the hell can fill the shoes of Shatner and Nimoy? NO-ONE. EVER. FAIL. For life. I'm not a Star Trek fan. Yeah, I can sit and enjoy an episode, I appreciate the shows for what they are, but I'm in no way a die-hard fan or anything. That being said, I was a little disheartened to hear about this remake/prequel/whatever. For one, it's going to screw with the continuity of the entire canon (there's been dozens of books written about the early days, and what's going to happen to them?) and, like I said, some goof who looks like he belongs on One Tree Hill is NOT Captain Kirk. Saying that, this looks pretty bad-ass.. Ah.. I dunno. I'm not sold at all. What do you think?

I used to be a big Trek fan, but I jumped ship after TNG ended. I'm willing to give this a try since JJ Abrams is involved, but I'm definitely waiting for somebody else to take the plunge and report before I give it a whirl. I don't much care for canon as far as reboots are concerned. They need to make this a fresh start and forget all of the decades of stuff before so that they can have room to operate in the present. Let the old series be what it was and let this new one be something else entirely.
