I know The Curmudgeon is already crushing on this big time so I figured I'd drop some gamer porn for ya. (Does not contain actual porn)
Lookin' good.
And here's a Chun-Li-centric trailer for the forthcoming anime as a bonus. How's your Japanese?

No Akuma though? Dang. And there's a couple of new faces I don't recognise (who's the fat guy? And the chick in the suit? And that little guy in the mask fighting Zangief?) It looks amazing. Not genre changing, granted but damn - it'll easily be the most playable fighting game on any system. Imagine though, if the whole game played like the animated intro's... Maybe that'll be PS4. On the subject of Chun Li - have you heard of the live action movie coming out, starring Lana Lang from Smallville? Silly me, I always thought Chun-Li was Chinese.

Better?
And fair is fair so here's equal time for the anime.
Not as cool as the Chun Li one, but it has Akuma!

It's coming up for my birthday soon, and I've already asked for this (not to mention the TRIPLE CD pack Prince is releasing), but has anyone actually played it yet?

I've got it in my system as we speak. Borrowed it form a friend. It's the exact same game you remember, just prettier and with a ton of extra awesome. I hadn't touched the series in a decade or more, but it's like riding a bike. But goddamn is the computer CHEAP! The grappling characters like Zangief are just stupid. He'll pull instant spinning pile-drivers on you in mid punch over and over until you remember why you used to throw your controller as a kid. It drives me insane. Other than that,it's a SF fans dream come true.

Phew, excellent. Zangief being a pain in the ass I can handle (he and Dhalsim were the only characters I never completed the game with, they were just slow and useless) but "the same game I remember with added awesome" is exactly what I wanted to hear.

Well, as an early birthday present (it's the 11th April), Mrs C bought me SFIV, complete with the new movie and 2 little figurines.
It's brilliant. I'm glad they haven't really changed the overall gameplay engine, (it really is the same game we all remember), but you're right about the grappling characters. Abel is damn near impossible to beat sometimes. But I already love it like a son.

Abel is an occasional nuisance, but Zangief would have me stuck for a dozen matches or so at times. That asshole would grab me for that spinning piledriver while I was in midpunch, midkick, in midair, and once while I was rolling at him as Blanka. Fucking ridiculous. He'll even do it as I'm getting up before I can even jab. That is just some cheap shit to deal with in the survival mode. Only Seth is worse and that's because he does the same thing AND teleports at will. I wound up playing as Sakura most of the time in spite of the fact that I'd played as her maybe once in the arcade years ago and I favor the classic characters. But man, that dragon punch of hers is MEAN. Blanka's still my guy, though. How about you?

Usually Ken or Ryu, but right now Guile. The only thing I'm struggling with is the Ultra moves - I've yet to do one. The instructions say, like, a normal flash kick but pressing hard, medium and light kick, but it never works for me. Is it pressing them all together or pressing light, then medium, then hard, or does pressing the LMH button do it for you? I've yet to work it out, and that's why I keep getting my ass handed to me.
I'm only playing on medium at the moment and the game is SOLID. That C.Viper character kicks my ass all the time, not to mention that annoying little "cooking time" prick.
Still, I love how each character has individual storylines and comments for each other. I haven't seen them all yet, but the lamest so far is E Honda's. He's doing this to make Sumo famous? Is that the best they could come up with?

They should have focused on more in-game trash talk and cut scenes. Viper is fucking WORTHLESS to use, but a pain to fight sometimes. El what'shisname is usually a perfect victory for me. A pushover. Blanka's story is abominably shitty. You do the ultra moves by pressing all three buttons together. On Xbox, there is a single button assigned that is the equivalent. It's likely the LMH button you mentioned. They're tricky to master, but so sweet once you do.
