Never heard their stuff mate. Saint Etienne - Sylvia alone beats anything on the CSS album!

Hadouken - Liquid Lives video www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpzEMilmYfkThis is the edited version, but you get the idea. The Curmudgeon predicts: you will hate, hate, hate it. Because I like it. Well, that seems to be the trend so far, don't you think?

You're not alone Curmudgeon - I actually don't really like Megadeth or Iron Maiden, although I appreciate what they've done for the genre and I certainly don't fault anyone for enjoying the music.
The last CD I bought for myself was "Solar Soul" by Samael. That album is kind of like an expensive cheese in the sense that the first time you try it, it tastes terrible and you wonder what the fuss was about, but then with each successive attempt you start to understand the subtle flavors. When I first heard it I thought it was just a more boring version of their last album, but after a couple more times it really starts to shine as you notice the little things. Samael's transformation from slow and boring black metal to their current style which almost defies description has been one hell of a wild ride, and one I'd recommend anybody who likes metal be sure to take.
The same can not be said of the album I bought before that, "Gothic Kaballah" by Therion. The tolerable sections of the album sound like a direct rip-off of Lacuna Coil, and the rest is just like an embarrasing soundtrack to a cheesy, ultra low budget sci-fi or fantasy flick. Definitely not up to par with Therion's normal symphonic brilliance.
I bought Gojira's "From Mars to Sirius" at the same time as Gothic Kabbalah. It's decent thrash that gets occasionally repetitive. Nothing to write home to mom about, but it's great if you just want something to bang your head to.
As for the next album I'll buy? Wow, too many options to tell for sure. Amazon recommended the bands Limbonic Art and Agalloch to me, so maybe I'll check them out next. I'm really into Peccatum at the moment, so I may get some of their other albums as well.
Since everybody's discussing hanson - my wife bought the newest Hanson (she's been a fan since MMM Bop days), and suprisingly it's not only tolerable, it's GOOD. I don't know how in the hell that happened, but these guys somehow morphed from little kid one hit wonders to decent musicians. I hope they manage to shake off the stigma of their early years and get the recognition they deserve.

I was just starting to get a little bit excited for Sebastian Bach's solo album (first in 8 years), thinking it had the potential to be pretty good, thinking it might be worth ten bucks, when I found out Axl Rose sings two of the songs. How anyone can stand, or God forbid, ENJOY, listening to that arrogant piece of trash's voice is beyond me. Every time I hear one of those terrible GNR singles I just want to throw things. It's one thing if he keeps releasing his own shitty material, but now that bastard Axl has to ruin something I actually like.
After finding out the horrible news surrounding Bach's new album, I felt it was only right to treat myself to something. That something was The Dio Years (Black Sabbath), which is one hell of a greatest hits. I also noticed that Testament is coming out with a new album soon, something even Axl Rose couldn't ruin for me.

I remember getting into a full blown ROW with some GnR fan who was adamant that the now "legendary" new Gun's And Roses album would be out THIS year. This was in 1999.
Axl Rose is a fuck up. Not only that, he's an egomaniacal cock who burn out any talent he had over a decade ago and still hasn't realised it. The fact this guy thinks he's still relevant is laughable.
My prediction? There will NEVER be another GnR album. Big loss.

I love GNR's work, but Axl Rose can seriously go suck a cock or ten. "Chinese Democracy" will never come out until he dies of an overdose and even then nobody will buy it. And anybody who buys a ticket to one of his shows (he shows up at about 1 in 10) should be beaten unconscious. And "The Dio Years" should be arriving in my mailbox any minute, Ben, so yay for me. But I don't really see how one who hates Axl so much can be so into Baz; I always figured they were separated at birth. Did you see "Supergroup"? God, I knew Bach was batshit, but watching a grown man behave like he did on that show was just unpleasant. Props to Biohazard's Evan Seinfeld for knocking him upside the head, though, I don't know how a NYHC motherfucker like him stopped himself from snapping the dude's neck like a twig.

Thankfully, I have not seen Supergroup. Not much of it anyways. I heard it was the most pathetic display of... whatever it was exactly they were attempting to accomplish. A cousin of mine waved me off before I wasted my time.
Truthfully, I haven't been into Seb Bach much as a solo artist. I loved the Skid Row days, and he actually didn't sound half bad when he appeared as the guest vocalist for Alice in Chains, but because he is a certifiable asshole (and a has-been for the most part) I haven't kept track of him until lately. All the interviews and promos for the new album started coming out and I said "Hey, there's something that might be worth checking out." But not anymore. Not after finding out Axl and his corn rows appear on it. Twice.
As for the comparison of Axl and Bach, there's one difference: Bach can hit NOTES, Axl's just squeaky. But you know who has the same similar voice and blows both Bach and Axl away? DIO! GO SABBATH!
