And no Superman jokes, thank you. As comic book movie fans, we really have been spoiled in the last 10 years. Spider-Man and its sequel, X-Men and its sequel (we'll forget the third parts), Iron Man, Hulk (both movies, in my opinion), Batman Begins and, the new holy grail of comic book movies - the Dark Knight. When pickings are so rich we can turn our noses up at relatively decent fare such as Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider and Hellboy then things are indeed pretty sweet. But amongst the success stories, there's the unsung, forgotten heroes. Those heroes who risked their lives and saved the world, but were cruelly ignored by the ticket buying public and left to rot on the comic book movie scrap-heap. So, if you had the power, which franchise would YOU kick-start back to life? Who do you think has the potential to cut it with the big boys, given the right budget and the right director? For me, the name that immediately springs to mind is this man.. Confession time - I recently watched Judge Dredd and actually quite enjoyed it. Sure, it stripped away pretty much everything that made the character (as well as adding dumb catchphrases), but it had some nice supporting characters from the comic and it did look hella nice. But I think a new director, maybe the guy behind Wanted, for example, could capture the anarchic streak found in the comics, as well as introducing uber villains like Judge Death. Oh, and Dredd MUST keep his helmet on for the whole fucking film, not just the first five minutes. But yes, I think Judge Dredd could be something very cool indeed. But there's hundreds of forgotten heroes out there. Who would YOU bring back?
