You'll no doubt be hearing the same wretched fucking Christmas songs everywhere you go. What ARE the American standards, by the way? Ours are the usual dross of "I Wish it Could Be Christmas Every Day" (Christ, imagine THAT), "Merry Xmas Everybody" and shit like that. What's the American standards you have to suffer everywhere you go at this awful time of year? Anyway, here's a free gift from our good friends The Dandy Warhols, with their own take on the Little Drummer Boy. Perfect as an alternative Christmas song, I thought. bulletins.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=bulletin.read&authorID=280087&messageID=6234813932&MyToken=51359301-011e-41fb-a9bf-bae6006f3274It beats listening to Mariah Carey, anyway.

We have dozens and dozens of terrible Christmas tunes like "Jingle Bells" (about drag-racing sleighs, no joke), and "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" along with the usual hymns. Speaking of which, goddamn I love Bad Religion.
And thankfully, South Park always hits us with the good shit.
Christmas can be a wonderful time of year if you know where to look.

Carol of the bells gets raped every year by TV commercials. They always try to come up with lyrics for it. I stick to listening to Transsiberian Orchestra. There's something special about a Christmas band with former thrash metal guitarists. I've heard they put on a hell of a live show, but I wasn't able to get tickets this year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iY4Tom6-wM

Ben - I don't know why, but that video made me think of this.. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=A-nviaWnxwo&feature=relatedI don't even know what "Carol of the Bells" is. Is that the thing parodied in Family Guy? ("Ding! Fries are done! Ding! Fries are done!") Trashy - no matter how many times I hear that South Park song it always manages to shock. How the FUCK did they get away with that? Amazing.

"South Park" is Comedy Central's biggest breadwinner by a mile. 'Nuff said. The creators' stories on the episode commentaries about their epic battles with the network execs are hilarious in and of themselves.

Yes, Curmudgeon, that is the Carol of the Bells. Unfortunately, as you have just shown us, many people do not even remember the original is a hell of a Christmas song on its own... I don't blame you, I blame commercials, and stupid parodies like the one you mentioned.

Actually, I don't think that song ever really "made it" over here in the UK. I hear carols and stuff like that everywhere at this horrible time of year, but never that one.
US only, perhaps?

Must be. But anyone who has seen a Christmas movie really should know it.

As long as I don't have to hear Sir Paul's 'Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time'. Oh shit - there it is on the radio of that milk-float just buzzing past. Alt title; 'How to Crush Christmas in 3 1/2 minutes. I hate him anyway, but that's a rotten effort in any-one's book. Speaking of which Cur, you been watching 'Star Stories'? Last nights was a pearler 'the Heather Mills Story; Paul McCartney is a Complete Bastard!' It's nice to have it confirmed.
