I hate to be the one who breaks this to you, but mainstream hip-hop really sucks. So do mainstream rock, electronica, mainstream films....pretty much everything you see or hear that you don't discover for yourself or through a friend with good taste
That needs to be put on a t-shirt.
Anyway, while I wasn't blown away with the guys rapping skills, what he's saying is pure gold. I've said this for a while now, but the time of white rappers being seen as a joke is long gone - now it seems that its only white rappers that are actually saying or doing something different, instead of relying on the hateful, boring "bling" routine.
"Hearts That Hurt" was a picture perfect piss-take - I really could see that playing on MTV 2 any day of the week (maybe that's the scariest thing). And a guy that raps about Boba Fett? I am SO getting that album.
Thanks for the heads up, Trashy.

Yeah, it really is all about the lyrics with this guy. That and some truly creative and diverse music-making (for the genre anyway). If you dug that stuff, wait until you hear the rest of the album; you will laugh out loud. Often. My friend who turned me onto this album told me she planned to make a Hearts That Hate website to see if she could actually get people into them, but Lars beat her to it. heartsthathate.com/ It's an amusing little fake blog typical of what you find on band websites these days, but with MC Lars referenced in every entry for anyone stupid enough to believe this band exists. And there are people who believe.
