Well, here's the first promo shot of the main cast of X-Men: Origins. And so we have, from left to right, Deadpool, Gambit, Wolverine, Sabertooth and Silver Fox. No real problems with Gambit, I guess, but gotta say, Sabretooth is a bit of a disappointment. For starters, Wolverine is supposed to be quite short, and Sabretooth is this huge monster guy. Now they're the same size. Bah. And I guess Deadpool must get his mask during the movie, too. I was pretty apathetic when this film was announced, but I'm actually looking forward to it now. It's always nice to expand the Marvel Universe on film, and if its done well and does well could start a whole new franchise. I wonder what they're all looking at?

I'm kind of dreading it. It MIGHT be good, but that's a big might. And if they fail, they fuck up Deadpool. Not cool. Why is The Blob not in the photo?

Maybe he wouldn't fit in the frame?
And yeah, I see what you mean about Deadpool. A potentially AMAZING character could be reduced to a few glib lines. And what about Sabretooth? If this is a prequel to the first film (hmm, why does Wolverine, who doesn't age, look older NOW than he does in the future?) then how does Sabretooth go from a speaking, actual character to a silent dumbass?

From what I've heard, Deadpool's role in the movie is minimal, but Ryan Reynolds took the part specifically because of the prospect of a spinoff film.

Man, if only Bruce Campbell was younger. He's the only guy I picture playing Wade Wilson onscreen. If they do him up right, a spin-off would rock my world. But seeing that I'm already ticked off that he's a pretty boy, odds are this is going to hurt.

Now I get your worry, Trashy - there is NO WAY any movie could do him justice. I haven't read much of Deadpool but holy shit that stuff is brilliant. Dragon Punch FTW!
Ugh, you just know this version of Deadpool will be awful. Thanks Trashy - now I'm dreading this film.
And what the fuck was going on with Ben and Aunt May? Was that a dream or what?

I'm thinking clones. Deadpool has a thing about clones. Thinks they're a bad storytelling device or something. Or maybe that's just everybody else. He fought one clone army made up entirely of the lamest dead and forgotten characters of the Marvel Universe. This was after he'd resolved not to kill anymore, but he figured clones weren't really people so he slaughtered them all as they screamed things like "Oh, the PAIN! We may be clones, but we're still real people!". Hilarious. Now if they brought in Ellen Page to re-enact that last scene then I'd be one happy camper. Here's some more. How would YOU spend a day with Mjolnir in your hands? Unfortunately, I couldn't find the panels of Thorpool singing "God of Thunder" by KISS or flying up to the windows of a skyscraper to ask him if they have any Grey Poupon. Great issue.

Holy shit, what HAVE I been missing out on? Deadpool is amazing!
So how did he get Thor's hammer? Or is that one of the crappy forgotten character's he's stolen from (Beta Ray Bill, if I'm not mistaken)

Well, this news may be to your liking, Trashy..
We are told via IESB.net that Ryan Reynolds was busy a guy in Vancouver during the extra time the production spent there shooting some added footage for his Deadpool character! Apparently most of the footage shot included Reynolds and Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman.
This isn't your mother's cameo...Deadpool is full on! Reynolds will appear in the film even more than originally planned!

We'll see if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
To answer your question, it was a trick by Loki to make Deadpool (and Thor) believe that he had Mjolnir while he cloaked the real hammer. The 90's Deadpool run can be downloaded and read as a torrent as it's unlikely you can find or afford more than a few TPB's. It is full of all that stuff and much, much more. More recently, he was teamed up with Cable for "Cable and Deadpool" which was as good if not better. CHECK THIS SHIT OUT!!! I love that character. He's a few issues into his new solo series and it's good but not as good as his first two runs. First he tricked the invading Skrulls into infusing his essence into some Super-Skrulls which got his personality as well as his powers and proceeded to massacre an entire other battalion of Super-Skrulls just for shits and giggles. Last issue had him captured to be used as zombie food for all eternity (healing factor) but his flesh was so nasty from the Weapon X program that he made the zombies vomit. Funny.
