Imagine a man, fiercely clever and genuinely funny, who made TV shows that a) had the celebrities who agreed to appear on it threatening to sue, b) received a record number of complaints from viewers, c) tricked PARLIAMENT into discussing a fictitious drug and d) had their new show rejected from both the BBC and Channel 4, who had made the previous TV shows, because its content was too controversial. Oh, and e) was dubbed The Most Hated Man in Britain by a hysterical, enraged tabloid.
No need to imagine - because that man is Chris Morris.
A long time hero of The Curmudgeon, he made, in particular, two TV shows, The Day Today and Brass Eye, that targeted the sensationalist media, the ever-increasing army of dead-eyed celebrities who would appear on anything just to get their face on screen, and the knee-jerk reactionary public, all through bizarre, surreal gags, pitch-perfect musical parodies and a fearless, taboo breaking sense of humour that still goes unmatched today.
Musical parodies? How about the Eminem/Limp Bizkit style child molesting pop star, JLB-8?
And a spoof on those awful, self important "talk" shows..

And how about those crappy gun-happy reality cop shows?

And of course, putting a script in front of a celebrity and watching them read it. You may not know these UK celebs, but the guy with the beard and the suit is one of the most self-righteous pricks ever on camera. And the fact the FUCKING T-SHIRT says "this is a made-up drug" doesn't even sink in.

For those have seen The Day Today and Brass Eye, I'm preaching to the converted. For anyone who hasn't seen it - Youtube clips aren't enough, get the DVDs (with commentary on the "drugs" episode from three genuine heroin addicts).
For the rest of us? Let's just wait for the Chris Morris show rejected by BBC and Channel 4... it's about suicide bombers. Let the good times roll.
