Now I'm no video game expert (at all), but is it me, or is the buzz for the Wii pretty much over?
There just doesn't seem to be any games to get excited about for the Wii, (SF IV, for example, isn't on the Wii), and it seems that the majority of the games available are those fucking bobble-head multi-player "fishing, jumping, swimming" things that favour "party style" multi-player gaming over actual.. you know.. gaming.
Maybe I'm just favouring the PS3 because I love it like a son (even though I've barely any games for it.. yet) but it does seem like the Wii is meant for people who don't actually play games. Which is great, but the number of actual quality, long term, solo games does seem quite thin on the ground.
Thoughts?

You are correct in your analysis, but your conclusion could not be further from the truth. Most Wii games are garbage and serious gamers have little to do with the thing barring family get-togethers. But behold the statistics. That's roughly 48 million Wii's sold, 29 million 360's, and 21 million PS3's. That spells O-W-N-A-G-E for the great and powerful Nintendo where I come from. It's just too accessible. The PS3 should have been awesome, but they can't get any decent games on it that aren't already out and improved on the Xbox 360. They blew their wad on blu-ray and nobody wants to make games for it. And those that do develop for Sony take YEARS to do what they can do for the 360 with the same level of quality in months. Plus the price tag is ridiculous and they still lose money on every console they sell. That system is absolutely KILLING that company.

Wow, I had no idea about any of that. I suspected that Wii was more popular, say, last year (it was near impossible to actually get a hold of one), but I really did think it was a bigger seller than the X Box. Hmmm. So do you ever imagine Sony will do what Sega did with the Dreamcast (and the Saturn) and just cut their losses and ditch the system?

Sony is too huge. I think they'll eventually cut their PS3 losses and just do better next time focusing on quality games instead of high-powered fads to sell their system. The PS2 still outsells both the 360 and the PS3. Why? Because it's got the most/best games and it's cheap as hell. I doubt this is lost on Sony. Shoot, I'm still tempted to buy a PS2 to play the games I missed out on when I went Xbox.
