I know a few of you discovered the site that is saving the internet through Amazon, so I figured this would be a good enough place to ask, especially as some of you write reviews that aren't exactly popular with the great unwashed general public. So I've not written an Amazon review in a few months. In fact, I've not even been on Amazon to check that site at all. So when I go back, the number of reviews I've written has dropped somewhat. And ho hum, I know what that means, some of them have been deleted because of their content. Same old story. So what I have to do is trawl through the reviews from this site and try and match them up with the ones on that site. It takes time and a pretty decent memory. So I re-post the reviews, and sooner or later they all appear again. Except one. This one, to be precise. www.thecurmudgeon.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=reviews&action=display&thread=738Yep, that one ALWAYS rubs people up the wrong way (can't think why..) and it's been deleted more than any other review I've written, with the exception, maybe, of the first Susan Boyle review. Anyway, I've re-posted it before and it's always appeared up on the site again. Except for this time. It's been three or four days now and I continually re-post the review, it thanks me for submitting, but it never appears. So here's the question - why? I haven't changed any of the content that's allowed me to submit it again in the past, and yet the review just won't go up. So do Amazon have a way of tracking certain reviews or reviewers? Wouldn't they contact me and inform me that the review isn't suitable? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Sorry I can't help you on this one but WOW Mr C you are hated! I've just read your review and the comments. Those people don't know what they are on about, they have no sense of humour. It seems your a very jealous man ha ha

The jealousy one cracks me up every time. It seems these idiots have about four different insults, and they just cut and paste them onto every comment.
Anyway, seems my complaining on here did the trick. After four or more days of trying and re-posting, the review is back on Amazon.
I give it a week till it's taken off again, though.

I've had problems with this too. The excuse they will likely give you is that your review is not a review of the product, but of the person and circumstances of his fame and therefore not helpful. But then again, they allow what are essentially message board posts speculating on products that haven't even come out to stay. Batman: Gotham Knight had a 1-star review months before it came out that read something like "Batman anime. Fail." The next review said something like "Shut up, haters. This will be the hotness." These are not excerpts. Those were the reviews. Also, people will give one star reviews based on the package getting lost during shipment or other shit that has nothing to do with the product itself.
Meanwhile, I stopped reviewing on Amazon a few years ago over my review of the film "Lesbian Vampire Killers" which is a DVD I had imported from the UK to review early to top off my all female vampire Halloween season reviews. They would not fucking post that thing due to the off-color humor in my review that was ripped directly from or otherwise in step with the content of the film. I feel that setting that tone lets people know what to expect from the movie and is therefore an important tool for reviewing. I edited that shit like 4 times and when they still wouldn't post it, I stopped reviewing there until Lunch proved to be even bigger dicks a year or two later (still majorly disappointed about that). I haven't been reviewing much either since that debacle. But I did post an older review of a product that hasn't been released yet on Amazon and have gotten more traffic than I have had in ages so that's cool.
Anyways. Basically, often reviews are reviewed before they are posted. That's why there is usually a delay before a review appears. And if the mod is not impressed with your stuff, it simply never appears. I've gone round and round with them on this. It's a shitty system, but that's how it is.

I was wondering why Mr C's reviews were disappearing and then reappearing again and again. That is so twisted of Amazon but I dont think its Amazon. I think it has to do with the complaints and how many Amazon gets. Ive reviewed sex toys and they're still there.
I guess you could say The Curmudgeon has a love hate relationship with people. People either hate his guts with a passion or they love him to pieces with a passion. Thats the way I see it.
I laugh at the ones who tell me Im jealous as well. And the same ones who tell me Im lonely and Im hateful and I should be on medication because they are hypocrites.

Some of it's definitely Amazon, but not entirely. One guy actually called me a sycophant once for giving a film a positive review. Apparently they thought I figured the film's stars and director were going to swoop into my home and make me part of the Hollywood "in crowd" if I said I liked the movie. I'm still waiting....

My problem is - I have a difficult time ignoring stupid people and the stuff they go ga ga over that makes me gag. I dont give Amazon as much business as I use to. I can see Amazon deleting me for profanity and sexual innuendos but deleting me for an opinion opposite the majority? Thats bullshit.

I've heard rumors of certain companies pressuring Amazon to remove negative reviews as well. I believe The Curmudgeon has dealt with this from Disney (no surprise). I still shop there because their customer service is typically amazing, but I seldom review there except for The Vine.

That explains why some reviews dont disappear and some vanish at the drop of a hat. Theres loads of online shopping and I dont need Amazon. Besides lots give free shipping whereas Amazon you have to pay through the ass for shipping. We purchased an Alienware laptop through Dell at a great price and with free shipping. They cost a heck of a lot more on Amazon and we would have had to pay for shipping too. Know your prices before you shop Amazon. Amazon can be a bit too high.

I recently joined the Deleted Amazon Review Club when my one star review for a child leash (does everyone know what I'm talking about? The harness and dog leash you attach to a child so he can't get more than 6 feet away from you) got taken down. I'm sure it was because someone complained. It was obviously a satiric review but everyone took it at face value and crucified me in the comments.
